Hi Nidhi,

I would try applying - diabetes is not contagious, it is a very common condition and would not require excessive, very expensive health care.

is your diabetes controlled? it is never a no until they say no in print.

just make sure you are looking after your diabetes and the rest is beyond your control.

The DMP (doctor)asks for additional test Fasting glucose & Blood creatinene if the lab finds glucose in Urine sample.

If fasting glucose is slightly higher & blood creatinene is within limits then you are good to go as long as you are not taking routine medicines to control your dibetes.

Finally it depends on the CIC doctors decision.

Diabetes is not contagious so you are safe there.

A person is deemed medical inadmissible on excessive demand grounds if, he/she is going to cost Canadian health care CAD 15,000.00. over next 5 years. The period can be extended to 10 years and the amount to CAD 30,000.00.

You consult your doctor about the medicines you have to take in future. Get the cost of those medicines from some Canadian pharmacy. Ask the doctor the number of visits and any special procedures which may be required. You will have your answer then.

Samm, where do you get your information? I have never seen this criteria before.

we should be careful not to make judgements and promises that are beyond our ability. Predetermining a DMP report is dangerous and it is best to simply wait rather than assume all will be bad or all will be OK. Nobody here is qualified to make that comment. that is what DMP and Ottawa are for.

Sharon,

Here is the link:

This is the source. But I have read the same at few other places.

Here is another link about 5 or 10 years mark but no cost is provided.

NIDHI logic has to enter into this situation.

No one can control others when it comes to diet and exercise. All people are different. If you go off your meds or Insulin or start pigging out no one can say that your situation and I am a diabetic would not cause excessive demand.

Before you try it is a NO so you have nothing to loose.

The odds are you will not be approved BUT....if you really get the numbers under control they may let you in.

Nothing ventured nothing gained.
