Subject: U.S Visa Confusion
i have a question to ask but its relevent to U.S visa.....i am going to apply for U.S student visa in upcoming days but in 1998 US Embassy issued me B2 visa which was valid for 3 months so i went to U.S and got admssion in College (Means changed my B2 Visa to F1 Status) but due to some family problem i came bak to my country and didnt bother to apply for F1 even i had the I-20 at that time but decided to study in Pakistan. but last year in 2007 i applied for B1 visa, my father having business in pakistan and i wanted to go to U.S on some business deal but visa officer refused my visa but i didnt mention in the application that i previously applied for U.S visa and visa was issued in 1998 because i was afraid because of changing of status from B2 to F1 so Visa officer refused my B1 in 2007.

my question is : but now i want to apply for F1 so should i declare that i was previously in U.S on B1 visa and then i changed my Status to F1 ? but what about the refusal of B1 in 2007 ( in that application i didnt declare that previously visa was issued to me ) i am so confused . is ther anyone who can help me or guide me please i willbe very much thankful to you guys. Sharon/Roy/DC or any one please

sorry, I know very little about US visa matters. DC or Raj are likely you best hope.

you may want to see if you can find a US immigration forum. they may have quicker answers.

Lubna,

Regardless you try to conceal your previous status changing from B1 to F1, US consulate in their record knows it. So, it was a fatal mistake to do so. They will always treat this as an attempt to fool them.

Never ever try to hide anything intentionally that only makes the situation worse.

Now you should write everything, though don´t know what would happen.

Good Luck.

Well, you should NEVER EVER hide any kind of information when applying for the visa. They have all the records with them and concealing some information is 100 % refusal. Based on my experiences and information i can tell that US visa is lot easier to get than Canadian Visa. However, you must not hide any information. Be confident and explain when, and why you applied before and why are you apllying now. It is all about convincing visa officer with a logical reason and they will never refuse the visa. They do not have any personal things with applicants, its all about presenting your case in an impressive manner.
