Subject: Landing...
i received my PR visa last month and will land in a week. my destination is toronto (arrive at 1pm) but will transfer flight in vancouver (arrive at 9pm).

question is...

1. will i do the land in toronto or vancouver customs?
2. if in vancouver, will the customs still open at 9pm?
3. how long will it take land (i assume there will be some questions and paperworks done)?

You land at your first point of entry , so Toronto for you.

As for time , it depends hugely on the queues. If two or three large jets have just landed it will obviously take longer.

When we landed the initial queues were quite long but moving quickly. It took us almost exactly one hour from stepping off the plane to getting to the arrivals hall.

I would say you have been sensible and left yourself plenty of time

Good luck

I have landed on May 21, 2006 and government approved the lading fee re-imbursement. But I did not receive this amount. Kindly reply to me.

i was 2 hours from getting in line at Vancouver to walking out of the airport. I came in just after a Philippine Airlines AND Cathay Pacific flight....i dont think you can get any worse than that.

You will be asked to show your CPR and passport. You may also be asked to show proof of funds. You will be expected to answer the following questions truthfully.

1. Have you ever been married?
2. Have any dependants other than those listed on the CPR?
3. Have you ever been arrested or convicted?
4. Have you ever been denied entry to Canada?

After they have checked the details and you have answered the above questions, you will be asked to sign at five places on the CPR. You are a landed immigrant now.

You will be asked to provide an address in Canada for mailing PR card. If the photograph does not seem right to them they will ask for more photographs or may take one there. You will be informed that your PR card will arrive at the address mentioned by you in about 4 weeks.

You will be given a copy of your CPR and directed to another person who will say "Welcome to Canada" and hand over a booklet and few other things.
