Subject: passport request
Hi

I have a question about sending the passport to Buffalo for landing visa. I am wondering if anyone knows what items should we send to Buffalo along with our passport for landing visa (for example ,photos, letter from the school, etc..........).

Thanks

I am leaving canada so I won´t be able to receive the passport request form. The letter will be received by my relatives in Canada and I will mail my passport to buffalo. I just want to know what they need so that I can prepare all document before I leave canada.

Thanks

I just did this today. You have to send all passports along with 3 recent photographs of yourself and any accompanying members and fill the form on the back of the PPR letter about your height and eye color and send that letter with your package in the grey envelope they provide.

They also recommend to send a prepaid self-addressed envelope for returning passports.

Hope this helps

What you have been advised by CBV333 is true for Buffalo. It may also be true for other RPCs in US. However, some people are not asked to provide height, eye color and photographs. Buffalo asks for prepaid National Xpresspost envelope for return of passports to Canada. Seattle (I think) asks for prepaid Fedex envelope.

Before sending anything out, see the letter that you receive from the regional processing center.

Samm,

I checked with Canada Post in Calgary. The lady at the post office said there is no service / Xpresspost - pre-paid envelopes to get back documents from US.

CBV33,
Can you suggest what did you do for return of your passports

YJ,

If your file is being processed at Buffalo, you buy the prepaid National Xpresspost envelope. What Buffalo does is, they come into Canada and mail the passports back from within Canada.

For Seattle/Detroit you have to get Fedex return courier. New York uses registered mail. If you decide not to use courier/Xpresspost, your passports will be returned by US First class mail (except New York which is still certified/registered mail).

Did you get your PPR already? If not, then you will also receive the instructions for the return of passports with your PPR letter.

Samm,

Thanks for your response.

I have not received PPR yet. But just preparing in case I receive it when on vacation. My friend will be checking my posts.

For New York, I just got my Work Visas 3 weeks back by FEDEX return envelope.(as per NY visa office´s instructions)
They accept FEDEX return envelope (with International AWB)only if you have an account with FEDEX. I used my company´s Fedex account number & address for return.

You can send the passport after renewal. By the way, some countries have expedited processing for renewal, you may want to try that.
