Subject: Work permit after withdrawing immigration file |

Hello,
I had a question regarding applying for a work permit. I previously applied for permanent residency with my husband but when we separated we withdrew the application voluntarily. I recently got a job offer from Toronto general hospital as a postdoctoral fellow and I want to apply for a work permit (the job is HRSDC exempt). Will my previous permanent residency file have an effect on the approval of my work permit? Will they think that this is another way for me just to enter Canada and deny my permit?
Thanks,
Sandy

(in reply to: Work permit after withdrawing immigration file) Your previous withdrawal will have no effect. I know this because I know two people who did that and then, when they were already here on work permit, applied again for PR and got it in less than two years. So just proceed with whatever your plans are without worrying about past.

(in reply to: Work permit after withdrawing immigration file) You Sandy appear to be one of those persons that this new legislation is intended to assist. HRSDC Exempt?
Consider it this way if you applied to take a driver license test and canceled will you be allowed to take a new driver license test again?
What happened in the past is the past. Unless you lied on your previous application it will have no affect what so ever. CIC is busy and will only scan your previous application notes.
