The Consular for Passport and Visa to India, Mr TIRATH SINGH harrasses Canadians Nationals interested in travel to India. Holding a Canadian Passport and Canadian Citizenship is not good enough in Canada, according to Mr Tirath Singh. The place of birth and origin of the applicant is used to discriminate applicants and publicly humiliate them at the Indian Embassy in Toronto, Canada. There are no formal instructions on procedures to attain a Visa/passport posted anywhere in the office and applicants find themselves at the mercy of a few officials at the Embassy Office. Many applications with affidavits are rejected on his whims and the office provides no explaination whatsoever for the rejection. They keep the applicants waiting for hours until their official answer is announced, ´Come again.´ The entire process repeats itself again.
Is there a Provincial or Federal Canadian Office in Toronto to lodge an official complaint against the likes of Mr Tirath Singh? Is there another Visa office in Toronto, Ontario where Canadians can obtain travel visas to any/all countries of their choice?

In my experience this sounds similar to the plight of applicants at the US Embassy in India who line up for visit visa to USA.

Or you may ask yourself why you want to go to India? They have enough problems there without the Canadians adding a few. But once you want their visa you just have to follow their rules.

Mr Manoman and mr. raj you people seem least bother about the harrasment of people by officials who are no good than to be in the lowest rank like sweepers. i am sufferring at the hands of indian embassy officials who humiliated and harrased for bribe when I went to get my passport renewed and now when I went to get Visa for my wife as I am graduating my medical university, they said why you have married she looks very old..and lots of humiliation and they refused. Is there any genuine indians front to contact and complaint against them..plz mail me i am a medical student in eastern europe

About the US Embassy in India situation.... No matter what people say that they are trying their best to weed out the fraudulent cases, I strongly feel that the decision is whimsical at best ! But those are mostly Americans who are sitting behind the counter.
I agree with you RANA and its unfortunate and my sympathies to you for the ordeal that you are going thru´, those officials at the Indian Embassy should be condemned for what they are doing to you.....

thanks Mr Raj, I am planning to take the matter to court when I go to India. there are so many intelligent soft spoken educated cultured Indian government employees but how come these uncultured wicked and starved for sex and money get selected. India should sent the cream intelligent and most humble cultured as their diplomats

Born in Nairobi, kenya, I have been a British subject since 1971, holding a British passport who visited India to meet my daughters future in-laws in February 2007. The Indian Embassy issued a visa within an hour of submitting the necessary application form.
In November 2007, I applied again to attend the wedding reception of my daughter and son-in-law. The Indian official immediately refused to accept my application despite the fact I was carring my travel ticket, a letter from my employer and bank statements. The so called officer refused to give any explanation for rejecting my application before saying Mr Blair was in office in February and now, it was Mr Brown. Rules change he said. After getting knocked about, I was eventually given a visa but, that was through the "back door". Someone knew someone on the inside.
In April 2008, I applied again using an agency. My file got refered 3 times and application returned at each stage.
On May 6th, I was offered an entry visa which would cost ?150.00 plus ?30.00 for the visa. On May 7th, fully equiped with all the requirements, I handed all over to the agent trying to help me out. Today May 8th, I was once again denied the chance to visit my daughter and son-in-law. Reason for refusal - NOT GIVEN - MATTER TO BE ASSED BY OTHER OFFICERS.
What peace and humanity are these Indians talking about? Terrorism, racism and unnecessary harrassment is in their blood.
So the $60million question is, what does one have to do to get an entry visa to visit his children in India?

I have a similar experience and I have been disgusted about the way Indian Consulate in Toronto works.Mr. Tirath is an extremely corrupt and vile official.

Mr Sayed Khan I can understand your plight, being harrased everytime and by the people who are not fit to represent INDIA.I see no hopes for india but I am seeing changes with people becoming more aware against corruption.but still the deaf ministry of external affairs of india should take action. getting into government service is not to print money.......

YOU GUYS SHOULD INVITE HIM HERE IN CANADA, SO HE CAN GIVE SOME SHITT TO THE INDIAN EMBASSY STAFF IN CANADA.
I HAD SAME PROBLEMS BEFORE, BUT LUCKLY I GOT INDIAN VISA VISA FROM UK.
DON´T WAIT AND WASTE TIME HERE, CALL LALU PARSAAD AND IF POSSIBLE, INVITE HIM WITH RABRI DEVI.
