It´s illegal, immoral, and unfair to legitimate spousal sponsors. That´s partly why waiting for a visa is so long, to check for people doing this.

Chris. Did you know the consequences?
If you sponsor a spouse to come to Canada as a permanent resident, you are responsible for supporting her financially when she arrives. As a sponsor, you must make sure your spouse does not need to seek financial assistance from the government (You must provide financial support for a spouse for three years from the date they become a permanent resident)

Was this actually posted by someone to get persons who are waiting for a spousal sponsorship approval pissed or was he serious?
Anyone in Canada thinking of going the bogus marriage route to make money would know the opportunities and never post such a low amount.
Is he an idiot which is a person lacking in knowledge or someone pulling our chain?
Hell he found this site but did not know that desperate people will pay far more. In Ontario a single woman on welfare will get approximately $500.00 per month or $6,000.00 per year. So this individual was willing to risk loosing $18,000.00 for $2,000.00 based on a three year sponsorship.
I feel we got sucked into his trap by reacting. I got upset because I have too many ligament spousal sponsorship applicants waiting far to long because of this &*(^*(&^
