Subject: Minimum Autoinsurance in Canada
I need to know how much does a minimum coverage auto insurance costs in Canada? Are the rates same throughout Canda? Is insurance sold by private companies or provice governments? Canadian residents of different provinces please help.

in BC it is government run insurance. new drivers pay high rates. I have a 2000 car, no accidents for 10+ years and my insurance is $1600. My city insurance rates are a little higher than the rest of the province. Type of car will also impact rates. (mine is a Honda) hope that helps.

Your age also makes a difference, if you are over 25 years of age your insurance drops, considering all other things being equal.

Sharon:

I believe you are quoting a full (comprehensive) plan. What the question was reg. "minimum" auto-insurance (third-party only) plan.

Is it like the U.S.? minimums are usually 1/2 or even 1/3 of the full plans.

Digshai.
