Subject: How to file US tax returns from Canada
I was living in USA last year and this jan 2008 , I moved to Canada, I want to file my US tax returns, I am in toronto , I have got the W2 form from my employer, What should i do , please let me know

Hi, we filed our tax with Softron( we have the same us background for last year ), they also file tax return for the us. Check with them.

You can also do this yourself.

First check the IRS website to see if your 2007 total world income requires you to file. If below minimum amount, no need to file at all.

Second, if above the income threshold, U.S. citizens must report all world income and file a return, even if residing as permanent resident in Canada.

Since you received a W-2, this income has therefore been reported to the IRS by your U.S. employer. You should see if you need to file and take care of this by April 15.
