| Subject: How long of an exit before re-entry after 6 months |
I have a quick question. My girlfriend is looking to come up to Canada to stay with me. I know that she can visit Canada for upto 6 months. Does anyone know how long that she would have to exit Canada before being permitted back in to Canada to stay again for 6 more months?

I also had another question.
I know that if you file for an extension for someone who is in Canada for 6 months. They are required to provide various information in regards to their stay. Such as income etc?
What happens if they do not have an income, or money in their bank account when they apply for that extension in order to stay in Canada?

I think there is no hard and fast rule about the time to stay out of the country before entering again as long as you have multiple entry visa. Application for extension requires to submitt supporting documents including your financial condition to support yourself. And if you stay more than 6 months in Canada and they give you an extension they will ask you to do a medical exam as well. Financial statment is important because you are a visitor in a different country so you have to prove that you can afford yourself. Otherwise the person you are visiting can submitt his financial statemnts, paystibs to prove that he/she will bear your expenses.

Thank you for your response. My girlfriend is an American citizen. Would she still require a multiple entry visa?
