I married her in 2005 which makes it over two years. She lives in the Pagesangan ? Mataram district. Things have fallen apart and we wish to divorce. The marriage took place in Indonesia and is registered in the civil registry. I agreed to pay for the divorce. I sent her 500 cnd
But she wants an extra 500 and she threatens me on the basis that
" if you don´t send her the money she will call the Canadian embassy and seek spousal financial support" we are not Divorced yet how can she seek money from me. Can she actually do this ? This is called Alimony after Divorce is it not. I did not sponsor her nor did i file any immagration papers. Please help me

CAN$500 seems to me like a very low cost for getting rid of an unwanted marriage... pay up! and save yourself from what could be a messy situation...

the thing is, if you pay now.. she might ask for more again later, and it will never end. one can never be satisfied with money.

i´m not familiar with the laws in Canada. Have you been sending her money regularly for the past 2 years? Is there any kind of evidence that says she´s financially dependent on you?

i thought she should be seeking money more from the father of her daughter rather than from you.

Nelson,
I agree with Jasmine, I mean you need to first find out if its legal for her to keep asking for money. Having said that its all about what you feel. If you feel you have to help her, then you should by all means you should go ahead, but as the title of the post goes, if you suspect something fishy.... go see an attorney.
