I´m in the process of sponsoring my spouse from india. Why is it that if there is no income and job requirement to sponsor a spouse, my lawyer is asking for a job letter and t-4 slips and job history to attach with my application. This is my first marriage for me and my husband. So why is all this info needed?

To show that you´ve never been on welfare and that you, are not currently on government assistance.
When you sponsor you are financially responsible for that person for a giving time period. Spouse=3 years if I am not mistaken. That being said, if you are or have used welfare then it shows you haven´t been financially responsible for yourself, and how are you suppossed to be financially responsible for your spouse.
