If you apply for visitor visa for canada and your PR application is also in the process, is there a better chance of getting visitor visa in this scenario or the visa officer does not consider your PR appliaction when deciding for visitor visa?

Two different categories, in perfect world a visa officer should consider your application for visitor visa provided you have a sold ground and reason to apply for visit visa. Otherwise, a visa office may consider the strength of your PR application and base his/her decision on your visitors visa application. I hear lawyers and consultants saying that it is easier to get visitor visa when PR application is in process. But i would say they should not generalize it because there are so many factors involved in giving a positive decision on any application. So there is no guarntee that it would be easir or difficult to get visitor visa when PR is in process. I would say it totally depends upon the circumstances and your reason to apply for visitor visa and the country of origin matters as well. I do not think an average person from developing world can get visitor visa only because his PR is in process unless applied with solid footing with a solid reason and fool proof supporting documents.

thanks Mike, very helpfulll and informative reply.

Can you advise off any solid grounds to get a visitor visa for my mother to visit us, they have rejected her last time and we applied on the basis of her visiting to see her newly born grandson.

I have been in the similar situation too. I guess as mike said, solid reason to come here (which you seem to have), the country of origin (developed vs developing) and most importantly the ties of the applicatant with their home country (income, job, assests etc). Last but not the least the judgement of the acutual officer who decides on the final verdict for the application.

Well, you have missed the first train; you should have applied for her visa when her daughter-in-law was pregnant. A very valid reason to provide pre-natal and post partum care to her daughter-in-law. Visiting to see a newly born grandson is not something very convincing and that is wht it got rejected, however, there must be some other reasons as well. Like an applicant has to prove ties to their homeland as well. So do not take my words that ONLY invitation purpose was not very convincing. Well, i am not in the position to give you any advice if what could be a valid reason to apply for her visa. I belive every reason is a valid reason when you can prove that you have no intention to break the agreement between you and visa issuing country. Every reason is a valid reason when you can prove and convince that you will leave the country or mantain your non immigrant status. You have enough funds to support your stay and you will not become a public charge. You are in good health and you are not going to seek socail assistance under such circumstances when you need hospitalization etc. So there are so many things.

I shall conclude it with this:
If you want to get approved, be truthful and prove that you are truthful. And if you are not truthful then you are already telling lie so why bother when you are rejected. You know what i am saying.

Visa Officers can SMELL both: the truth and the lie most of the time. Good Luck!

One more thing i would like to add. When you are not very specific about some solid reason, do not mention it as the ONLY reason like visiting to see or meet your newley born child is not something catches attention and it can´t be justified as ONLY reason, while going to provide prenatal postpartum care is very specific and it can be justified very easily. In that case when not very specific, only invite her for a visit to Canada and then add few more benfits of her visit like, you can say, she would be able to meet her grandson and family as well. She can enjoy the beauty of Canada in summer, things like that. So mix every thing up and do not be very specifc, rather give several reasons behind her visit. Attach your paystubs, employment verification, invitation letter, statutory declaration (notarized) and any other supporting document and submitt it. Godd luck buddy!

trv (in reply to: visitor visa)
hi guys. i need help from experienced people. my girl friend is from the philippines. she will soon apply for the 3rd time for a trv. so far she been denied. we want to spend the summer in canada with our daughter. i dont have much ressources left and if she denied again i might have to try to sue the canadian immigration or give up my hopes of keeping my family united.

first i must say that assets is not a factor that influence the decision. i know a philipina who is married to a canadaian born citizen and have lands, house, car, more than 1 000 000 pesos in her bank account and 3 sons in the philippines and she still been denied coz the visa agent thought she would not leave the counrty. ( the boys were not include in the visa application). so... assets?? i say b%&%SH**

for her second application the visa agent said we would apply for a sponsorship while we are in canada. funny fact...we were accused of lying and were punished for a "crime" that we MIGHT commit. isnt it against canadian law???

i will not sponsor my girlfriend and the first reason for that is i m not living in canada anymore. i just opened a business in hong kong and my girlfriend owns 33% of the shares. so considering the fact that i wont sponsor her the only way she can overstay her visa is by vanishing in the country. what are the chances that happens?? if she vanishes in canada she can say farewell to her family and her 10 years old son. she can say farewell to her business in hong kong. she can also say farewell to her freedom and our 8 months daughter. why would she leave behind what we re building for 2 year just to become a ghost in canada??

what assets they need to grant that trv?? i dont understand. i met a philipino here in hong kong who wanted to open a business in canada. he applied for a business visa or something like that and the immigration denied him and granted him a 5 years multiple entry visa so he can come and study if the business project would be good in canada. but for my girlfriend it s different. they re syaing get a sponsorship and then come to canada. non-sense! honestly who whould buy a house without a prior visit? is money is also ruling the immigration law? are the visa agents are following unwritten laws? is there things that canadian immigration cant say out loud in order to maintain it s image??

for her third application my girlfriend will show her new asset (the company in hong kong) she will have an invitation letter from my parents, financial record from my mother to show we have suffisent found to support her and all the requiered documents. do we have chances or i will have to turn to the canadian press and the federal court to finally have justice and keep my family united??

sorry for this long post. please give me some tips

thx
