Anyone with experience of optaining a police certificate in Bangladesh. I am not a Bangladeshi and need to get one. Currently live in Dhaka

Come on my friend, you live in Dhaka (Bangladesh) right now and you are asking this question on this forum. Go to a loacal police station and ask them the procedure to get police clearance. And they will guide you properly. And if you want the faster services, give them few hundred "TAKAS" and they will immediatly issue one. Guaranteed Success or i take my advise back! LOL

Mike is correct, though 100 taka now a days mean nothing.
Have to spend at least 2000 taka otherwise it´ll be in the cold box for 6 months to an year.

Mike is right but not now a days. This govt is strict against bribe or crime like. Go to police precient and ask the procedure. That´s better. Remember, do not take a chance.

Obviously I have been to the police station and asked but no one knew, so they claimed, how certificates are issues to foreigners, only to Bangladeshis...still I was more interested to know in terms of how long it may take, maybe there is one particular office I should go to instead of waisting time among staff at the local police station who, as I expected, had no clue or interest to be service oriented.

Local police stattion (Thana) is the only place who can provide you that. Make no mistake. That locality depends on the passport address; but in your case it is complecative as you have no BD. address written in the PP.
Usually record keeper or someone like that does this verification.
All you have to do is to take the easiest way; reach a verbal agreement with that guy..I know this is immoral suggestion but you have to follow the "rule" where you are. You styed there for some times so if you shouldn´t deserve that system as western world.
Otherwise they´ll hang your application for many months..even you may not get it.
They won´t ask you money directly, but when they want money they say something like that you mentioned. This is the indication.
