they have to convince the officers that they will leave and the officer would have to believe the us will let them in, so best to have evidence of a car booking and return flight from us in this case

depending on their country of origin, they will also need a visa.

Travelling (in reply to: visiting Canada one way ticket)
Hello,

I´ve been given a 6 month sabbatical from work, starting on the 18th Feb. Therefore i´m flying over to Canada (Whistler) for the 2010 snowboarding season. I´ll be in Canada from around the 20th of Feb, until the middle of April.

I then intend to cycle to San Fran to see family, before leaving the country. However i haven´t planned the second part of my journey yet, as want to keep some flex and not be constrained by time.

I have around £20,000 for my trip, so will have money for the return flight. Will i be OK to cycling into America, if i don´t have a return flight?

If not what do i have to do? Could i get work to write me a letter to state i have to be back in the UK in August or maybe letter of intention from my family in the UK?

I look forward to your response,

Matt Wheeler

do you have a place to stay in Whistler when you arrive? There is this small event called the Olympics that has Whistler full to the rafters until the end of February.

One way ticket (in reply to: visiting Canada one way ticket)
I am going to Canada at the start of July with a one way ticket. I will be studying in September at UBC in Vancouver, but I don´t know if my student visa will come through by the time of my flight. Can I go to Canada on a one-way ticket and explain that the student visa is on its way?

Many thanks

very risky. How can you guarantee your student visa will be approved?

No. The requirement(s) of being allowed entry to study include having your student visa. I would recommend waiting for the visa, or informing the consulate on the urgency of your situation prior to leaving your home country.

Our daughter her husband and our grandchildren are Canadian residents, waiting for citizenship. My wife and I wish to pay an extended visit to them, and travel down through the USA maybe lasting for 6 to 8 months and then return to Canada and then the UK and repeat the process maybe a few months later. We are both British citizens, are there any restrictions to prevent us doing this? I realise that we require visa´s to enter the USA.

your maximum allowable stay is 6 months per year. Other than that, I do not see a problem as long as you can show significant ties to the UK. They don´t want you deciding to stick around.

My sister, husband and there baby are coming to visit Canada and they only bought a one way tickect with no return day. Would that be a proble
in the Canadian customs once they land in Canada?
