I would hate to see Roy in a political debate when the outcome actually affects him!

Quite a shocker of a night. I never imagined Indiana would be so close given the polling that took place before hand.

I give Hillary credit for fighting to the death but surely the vultures must now be circling. It is becoming evident that its either her or nobody as president. That can´t be good for future success within the party.

I wish they would go back and poll those that voted at the beginning of primary season to see if the voters would remain with their original choices. From my armchair analysis, the longer people watch Clinton campaign the less they like her. Her outstanding quality appears to be tenacity at the moment (which is not necessarily a bad thing).

I am hoping Obama starts to ignore Clinton and continues on as if she is out of the race by focusing on issues and McCain. (Barak, are you reading my advice???)

anyway, Richard... was it JD or Champagne last night?

Too much wine for me I got too stressed out.

When Barack starts focusing on content and issues it will be the beginning. He has only ran not the other guy because I will change something, what, how, when, where, why etc never is mentioned in his speeches but they are feel nice speeches.

How on earth can Barack ignore his only competition?

Your in a race and only focus on your message not anything from the opponent! I assume you do agree he did make some milage from the pandering comment, correct?

Hillary is going to finish him off in West Virginia with all of those good old Coal Miner Daughters who know a Clinton can fix the economy.

What news reports are you and Richard watching?

I understand that we all interpret things but the media is saying Hillary is getting better.

yup - too much wine.

all the reports I have read this morning suggest she is in trouble. No money, and delegate numbers are formidable. Go play with the CNN delegate counter - the numbers simply do not work.

Given the nightmare that Obama has endured the last 2 weeks it is amazing he got the numbers he did. Can you imagine what the results would have been without Rev. Wrong?

there is no way that the superdelegates are going to yank a nomination away from a black American who is leading in votes and actually get away with it. The Clintons may believe they have earned the job through tenure but I don´t think that line is going to wash. Not only that, if the superdelegates ignore the vote count - there will be a blood bath on the convention floor. Both candidates signed agreements to not count Michigan and Florida - everyone knew the rules and coming back after the fact just because it suits you really would smell far worse than not counting the results from those states. Besides, how can you count a state where one candidate was not even on the ballot? Split them 50/50 if you want.

Hillary is a smart woman - make no mistake. She has made it clear that America is ready to embrace the notion that a woman can be president. For that, she deserves a lot of credit. However, in the face of the numbers... I think she needs to bow out gracefully and give Barak a chance to make his own history.

I think one of the worst things to come out of this is that Clinton has disenfranchised so many voters that if she does somehow become the nominee, she´ll find that many Obama supporters won´t vote for her. Sure it´s exciting that a woman is running for president, but equally so for a black man. It´s too bad for her that she´s turned off so many women (myself absolutely included), though I´m glad to see her true colors before casting my vote. So the Democratic Party weakens, and the Republicans get the last laugh. She might be tenacious, but at the country´s expense. Tell me again how this is different than the guy in the White House right now?

Roy: it´s going to take a whole lot more than West Virginia to "finish Obama off". How influential do you think that state is? Even Hillary can´t skew the numbers in her own defense anymore. I wonder why this race interests you so much.

It was champagne, although just a few sips. The rest along with many more in another couple weeks for sure.

I had to smile when I saw the late election returns from the Indiana suburbs of Chicago. All my life, Chicago returns from certain wards were always late, as the votes were engineered for "accuracy". Mike Royko, our late, famous newspaperman and political commentator was an expert at how the Democratic machine ensured the "correct" totals every time. He was our version of Rex Murphy.

But this time, apparently, it was just a painstakingly long count due to so many absentee ballots and large turnout.

I think Sharon summed up the situation as of today well, just above. Not sure if Roy still has a hangover when he says "Hillary will finish off Obama in West Virginia". It´s too late and the game is over. No miracles left to resurrect this self-funded family operation, based on speeches and book profits.

Chris Mathews on MSNBC I thought put it well. Hillary´s problem from day one was her Iraq War vote. It was a clever political calculation that turned out to backfire. She´s always stubbornly refused to say it was a mistake, and it cast her as less principled willing to do anything to win. Obama´s change message and honesty is what resonated.

I hope our colleagues here don´t shy away from saying what they think. We all get carried away sometimes, and that´s part of the enthusiasm sometimes in supporting a point of view. I find such discussions interesting and enlightening, especially to hear how these events play with our Canadian friends.

I feel it is the young immature against the one that actually remembers the good times when a Clinton was in the White House.

The Economy is the issue and no one should be elected for saying present or for once voting the right way when the whole world was being led astray with lies about WPD´s

One correct decision does not make a President! Having funds to run a better advertising campaign should not be a reason to be President either.

Okay let me say it, Being a spouse of a President does not either but accept one thing this race is still a race.

Sharon: Nope, his mom is white, from Kansas I believe. His dad is from Kenya. I´m not sure what the racial landscape is like in Canada (other than the divide between the Quebecois and "English" Canada), but here, color is color and I think still a real threat to "white" Americans (even to Latinos, apparently). It´s high time we wake up to reality, but I guess these things are slow to change in every culture.

Roy: who here is "young and immature"? I´m pretty sure we were all here to vote for or against Clinton in the 90s and remember the state of the country quite well, along with the endless scandals.

Richard: I agree with Chris Matthews on this one. By refusing to admit a mistake, she casts herself in the same image as our current cowboy president. She actually had the gall to say "you´re either with us or against us" the other day when talking about her phony gas tax holiday. Imagine! Gives me the shudders.

I wonder what the Clinton camp would be saying today if Indiana had pulled off another 2% points in Obama´s favor. Can´t believe it was so close.

That Sharon is definitely a wannabe smart but incredibly stupid woman. She has been babbling about Obama without even reading much about him or his family. Kinda shows the stupid side of the Canadians.

Yanker, get over yourself. You have no concept of what I know or don´t know.

Wannabe...you clarified what I thought about Obama´s parents. What puzzles me is why Obama is labeled ´black´ when he is only partially black. Why is he not a dark skinned white candidate???

facinating that a mixed race individual is labelled one and not the other.
