Subject: Spouse sponsership
Okay. So my husband and I met in China over a year ago and recently got married. We are done with the whole living abroad thing and want to go back home. Only I am Canadian and he is American.

We are fairly young (21 and 23), and everything we have seen on spouse sponsership requires me to have a minimum income and proof of that and whatnot. We intended on living with my parents and working odd jobs while I finished up Uni. That really isn´t possible if he can´t work too.

If I could support him without him working, I wouldnt need to get him PR in the first place! Not to mention that because I was working in China, I have no proof of past income. Is there any way around this? Are they really going to make me live in a different country from my husband just because I can´t support him? (even though if we could BOTH work we would be able to easily support ourselves...)

Is there another way to get him an open ability to work... or I dont know something that doesnt require us to live in seperate countries for the next 4 years.

Help much appreciated.

there is no income requirement for spousal sponsorship. If you are a Canadian citizen, you can sponsor him while you are both still in China. You will need to show intent that you are returning to Canada.

Once your immigration is complete you can both come to Canada and he can begin working immediately (or close to it)

I´ve checked out the guide, but I find it all really confusing. If I don´t need to prove I can financially suupport a spouse, does that mean I dont need to submit all of the financial documents it tells you to submit?

R U concerned because you have not been paying taxes??? Submit 2007 taxes and show zero income if that is what you made and all will be okay.
