Subject: Landing - minimum stay
  Hello,

I am curious to know if there is a minimum number of days that one has to stay in Canada after landing. I am hoping to Land in mid August and stay for 2 months before I finally move in Apr 2009.

I know to obtain citizen status, one has to stay for a minimum duration of 3 years out of a total of 5 year. Is that correct?

If you have a link from the CIC website about this information, please do send it along. Any help in this matter is highly appreciated.

Many thanks.

You can go back the same day if you want to. You need to provide an address (in Canada) so that your PR card can be mailed. To maintain you need to stay 730 days out of 5 years.

To maintain your PR status, you have to live 2 years out of a total of 5 years. To get a citizenship, you have to live 3 years out of the total of 4 years.
