there is a group that posts regularly on this website called Sunny´s newcomer service. i believe they are in the Toronto area. start by contacting them.

any specific reason you are choosing Toronto? You may find better work options elsewhere in the country.

rethink Toronto. Ontario and Quebec are nearing a recession. Jobs are getting tighter and your competition for jobs from other new immigrants will be high.

go west!

Ontario in a recession, WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ontario is Liberal-ville and your Conservatives like to paint the Premier of Ontario as a bad guy but we don´t think so.

The Conservative Finance Minister is in the riding of Whitby, Oshawa and since the layoffs at GM in Oshawa that is one seat the Conservatives will never take again in an election in the next ten years.

Ontario has always been the engine that has run the Canadian economy and will have another NHL franchise real soon. With the Air Car coming to Ontario who gives a ________ about oil from Alberta. No need for gas, no need for oil period $2.00 to refill the car with compressed air.

$1.28 per liter brush your teeth with that the WEST.

Compressed Air Cars and Taxis from Tatta Motors India will be built in Ontario and not the west.

RECESSION LOL

what does ridings have to do with this?

Manufacturing is in the tank. true or not? The commentary I heard on TV last night on the CBC suggests Quebec and Ontario will feel the slowdown the most. Commodity prices are high and that will offset things in the western provinces. It will also prevent the R word from being equally applied and felt.

last downturn the story was reversed. BC and Alberta were in the tank and Ontario was humming along. Ontario/Ottawa did not give a rats ass about what was happening in the west and kept raising interest rates to slow down the boom in Ontario. Killed the western provinces for years.

Who cares? Why is this a competition. geesh. Ontario is not the entire country nor the center of the universe.

If someone has absolutely no ties to a region do you recommend they settle in the hardest place or suggest they attempt somewhere else where the competition is less fierce for the same jobs? I thought we were trying to be helpful here.

Dear New Immigrant,

Ontario has a different economy than the rest of Canada, it is way too dependent of the US and the US economy is like a roller coster as far as I concern.

Take a look at the province of Alberta. We´ve got oil, gas and that industry ain´t getting any smaller.

Northern Alberta (Fort McMurray) is the second largest oil reserve in the world.

Do the math and see if this province fits your expectations in terms of quality of live and $$$$$.

Cheers

Bill

To me, Alberta´s government has tried to make the province look more like a western U.S. state, unlike the rest of Canada. Conservative, individualism, and emphasis on free enterprise profitering. I think I´ll take Ontario instead for a better balanced. Even better Quebec.
