Subject: Fees while filing application from India
I am planning to file my Skilled Worker applcation from India to New Delhi Canadian Embassy. Now, when I make the demand draft, what should be the amount. Should it be
1) The equivalent of CAD 550 in Indian Rupees. (as per the exchange rate on the given date)
or should it be
2) Rupees 19000.

Please let me know.
Thanks in advance

you must buy a bank draft in Canadian funds for $550. There are large banks that can provide this service. You pay for it any way your bank accepts... but whatever you do, not send foreign currency - Canada does not accept it.

Or you may ask any of your relatives/friends abraod to buy bank draft. That is easier.

Go to ABN Amro Bank or Standar Chart. Just show the print out that u need to pay CA$550 towards application fee. They will open a file for u right away and send the request to RBI for approval. If request is made same day before 10 am, u might get the Bank draft in CA$ by 5 pm same day. Make sure u have equivalent INR ready with u in cash. Its much easier to do with ABN Amro Bank.

You need to get DD of Rs. 19000 as you are submitting your application to New Delhi-India.

Hi Rakesh,
I am also from India and know how it works. U can pay in INR but the problem is that Canadian consulate keeps on changing their conversion rate. So to be on a safer side, why don´t u get a DD of CA$550 from the bank which will take just one day. Its not a new thing for the banks in India as they do the same for students who apply to US or Candian universities for higher education. If u go to ABN Amro Bank they will just charge u Rs 250 extra towards service charge. Just don´t be confused. And one more advise don´t hire a consultant in India for this job as u can do it all on ur own.
All the best.
