Hello JJJ I thought I could point you in the right direction about finding a temporary accommodation in Toronto. Recently, when I had a week-long vacation, I went to Toronto and stayed with SAFEHOMESTAY.COM These folks are from Malaysia and run several Condo-based rooming system. They are excellent. Clean nice rooms and they charge you under 300$ a person (if you want just a room and are willing to share bathroom with 2-3 people, you may get a room for 210$ a week. Matter of fact, I am returning to Toronto during the last fortnight of June and will stay with them again. Just go to the site above and go from there. I also checked out Sunny Newcomers place (they advertise here) and found out that their setup is more messy than an average house. They also want you to stay at least a month or so; Safehome stay requires a minimum of 1 week and the people are very friendly. If you stay longer, they will put you in a house with many Just-Landed type of immigrants; they organize weekend dinner parties, and provide a HD overhead cinema projection system so you can enjoy movies (Canadian or whichever).

I should caution you though, that Ontario is tied to the US economy so tight that they dance in tandom with the Americans. When they say that Canada catches cold when the US sneezes, they actually mean Ontario and Quebec. Notwithstanding this scenario, I have seen many people, both 3rd worlders and the immigrant AMericans, doing very well in IT sector. I hope this info helps... Good luck.

Calgary has every job imaginable. It just so happens that the energy sector is the bread and butter industry that brings in lots of cash.
