Subject: URGENT HELP NEEDED
  Hi All,

I had sent in my landing fees (RPRF) in the first week of Nov to Buffalo Consulate. I had applied last year in Dec with initial assesment started in January, 2004. I am an Indian citizen. Since I had not received the PP request yet so I checked around and just got to know that the delay has been because of lack of response to my police / background investigation from India, which was sent almost 4 months ago by Buffalo and that Buffalo will wait for one year before they issue the PP. At the time of application, I had included copies of Police reports from India and I have been in US for almost 6 years on professional work visa. I had got a request for FBI background check in August alongwith medicals. Medicals were submitted in August and FBI in September. My interview was waived. Now my questions are: 1. Why will they ask me for the final landing fees in October if the case is not final yet? 2. Any idea as to what Indian agency gets the police verification requests from Canadian Consulate (Buffalo, NY) so that I can try to approach them (via some means)to get the police reports sent back to Buffalo soonest? Some one told me that it is RAW Delhi but I am not sure if they are the ones who deal in such reports (like FBI, it got to be some internal department and not external affairs RAW which is equivalent of CIA)?

Much appreciate reponses. Thanks

Happy New year to all.

I very much doubt that RAW would get this type of query. RAW is far above such idiotic matters. However, both Canada and India and slow countries with vast emphasis on beaureaucratic nonsense. So it shouldn´t surprise if it takes an enormous amount of time, like years! You are safe to seriously pursue other life matters as canada wallows in beaurocratic stuff. If you still have desire to move to Canada at the end of your liffe when these matters are settled by the SlowMo´s you might move to canada... or just write off the whole damn thing and move back to the US.

Indian police certificate is good for 4 months only. U should better go to India and re-apply with ur local passport office for a new certificate. This will take 20-25 days but if u don´t wanna to go to India then apply with Indian consulate in New York. This might take another 2 months. RAW is never involved in this process. Its the lazy guys from local passport office back in India who need to send a request to ur local police station for an inqury. Just don´t delay.

Thanks folks for your prompt responses. I was advised that everything including police clearance is Ok and that now they are awaiting response from Indian authorities on background check (which is totallyy different from police report) basically to rule out involvment in terrorist / subversive activities)and that as soon as they get this report, they will issue the PP request. Do you still believe that background checks are also sent to passport office? If that is the case, then it is easy to chase passport office in my local city in India. My passport renewal was done in USA couple of years ago and that new passport was issued by Indian embassy in Washington, DC.

Please advise. Thanks again.

Landing issues ??? (in reply to: URGENT HELP NEEDED)
Hi all,

I had applied PR to canada from Buffalo inthe month of June 2004 and received the Visa stamped Passport inthe month of July 2005. Iam an Indian Citizen.

Right now, Iam in India and would like to Land in Canada as soon as possible. But I got the PR visa, which has got Issued column from "Buffalo", since I applied from Buffalo, USA.

My question is whether I can Land in Canada from India.

Will I encounter any issues at the "Port of Departure" that is India ? Will the Custom people say that since you applied from Buffalo, USA, you need to enter Canada from USA ?

Any inputs on this, Please.....

Thanks,

rns
