Guys
I with my family landed in toronto, last year in May (07) via rainbow bridge. I came back to US after 2 days. We have our PR cards also. I am in NJ at the moment. Now I have seen some information on CIC´s official site but i want to hear from people who are going or have gone thru the similar situation like I am going.also If someone wants to apply for citizenship though he or she is living here in the US. is it possible?if yes, then what is required and how it can be done. Please advise

To maintain your PR status; need to physically stay at least 2 years every 5 years. Clock starts from the day you landed. There are exceptions also, like if you work overseas for CDN. govt. or any Caandian company...accompay your Canadian citizen spouse...
For citizenship; you need to physically stay in Canada for 3 years within the last 4 years. To get the citizenship while staying in the US would be near impossible. In that case your case will go to a citizenship judge and without very good reasons I only can wish you good luck. Currently CIC is being very strict on citizenship as many PRs use to get this by claiming false staying in Canada.

Thanks for your advise DC. I guess they have just become stricter because i have several examples of individuals who did the same thing and eventually they got succeeded.

I know too.
Now it´s not that easy like before. If they have any doubt then they ask for some additional docs like rental agreement/pay stubs of 2 years back...physicians name...Or even grill in the written exam interview.
