Then definitely not in Toronto.

Best may be in Alberta. Vancouver may not be bad also, specially if you can´t tolerate extreme lenghthy winter.

I disagree with DC. I always liked Toronto for its cleanliness, livability, and professional employment opportunities. It´s especially good for immigrants wanting more foreign diversity and culture than Calgary. Many immigrants will feel more at home there than Calgary.

The weather couldn´t be any worse than Chicago.

His entire point was job oppurtunity based.

In that respect I suggested him. That suggestion wasn´t any over all comparison. I´m sure if he lands in Toronto and then start complaining about the jobs then by default he´ll be asked why did he land in Toronto instead of Alberta...

Currently western Canada definitely has lot more oppurtunities than the east. I experienced myself how dull the market can be, now it is even worse there with declining US economy.

I understand his point very well. I´m just adding a broader point of view as an observation.

It is now advisable by all quarters to get away from the well known immigrant center.

With addition of Alberta, now I started listening about Youkon and North Canada.

I am with DC on this one. Far too much competition from people with similar skills and experience levels for a job market that is currently feeling some economic retreat.

Think outside the box (in this case... outside Toronto)

Richard... if you think Toronto is clean and livable, it is time you came to my house for perogies.

For sure, Sharon. Maybe you guys are right about Toronto, as I haven´t been there in about 15 years.

That post from someone about the extreme competition for jobs in Vancouver was a little scary, though. His point was that since everyone wants to live there as it´s such a scenic city, they´re also chasing the same limited number of jobs.

Toronto is not what it was 15 years ago. (no insult to Roy on this) Vancouver is not what it was either. (some say that is really bad... others think it is fabulous)

I would suggest extreme competition may depend on the skill sector.

I was at an Olympic presentation the other night. Vancouver will be a different place in 2 years time.

Toronto has changed so much in 15 years, Richard, you won´t even recognize it. We fell in love with the city about that time, and have watched it grow and expand every year since then. I still love it, but I would have loved to LIVE there in the early ´90s.

We are expanding our job search to include provinces such as New Brunswick and Saskatchewan, places that are apparently growing and needing new people. Easier said than done to actually find the jobs, however.

Agreed with DC.

Ajay ? Come to Calgary, there are LOADS of opportunities here they are so hungry for people ..... COME HERE!!!

The Rockies are here too it is sooooo beautiful when the blue sky hits your eyes in the morning.

From your name you sound Indian, my husband too is Indian and he got a "low-paid" job in less than a week, while looking for something better and he enjoys it too!!! No canadian experience required, they just need people!!

Come here!!! No doubt, Toronto is too too full of new immigrants ... not too good for "low-paid" jobs, follow DC advice!!
