Subject: Change Name

Hi everyone.

I need help about opinions and from your experiences: Pls help.

I am on a working permit, and will soon apply for Permanent residency. I am still using my maiden name, for personal reasons, though i am married, and CIC was informed about it.

Should i start changing my passports name, other documents and IDs, so there would be a less disorder dispute as i sponsor my spouse?

Id really appreciate your insights here guys.

it´s 2008. I would submit it is more common these days for women to retain their maiden name than take their husband´s name.

I would suggest as the Canadian, you should not be concerned.

OK. one more question:

I am now decided not to change my name. (as it takes time). But theres ONE document i have here where i bear my husbands name, WITH my maiden name on it too. Its from our local bureau investigation office. u think that would´nt be a problem?

Bless u for helping strangers like me.

if it is showing both names, I would not be concerned.

last name (in reply to: Change Name)
I´m a PR and recently married my wife from NJ, USA.
We´re planning to put her application in-Canada. She doesn´t have any document (except for the marriage certificate) with my last name on it which she would like to use.

Should we wait to get at least her passport changed before we submit the application?

Or, would it be possible to apply for a new PR card with my last name for her later on after the original has been approved?

Is there a chance that CIC will accept her application if we submit an application using my last name?
