Roy... not really. I have voted liberal all my life until the last election. I was born and raised on Trudeau. Couldn´t do it any more. Still can´t do it.

I am a fiscal conservative and a social democrat. Makes elections very tough for me.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply yesterday Sharon. So whilst nothing as absolutely clear at the moment on the way forward, the common thread seems to be that applications received before Feb 27th 2008 will be processed as before on first come, first served basis. Has there been any talk of the rules changing for these applications?
I read this forum everyday, and am very grateful to the people like yourself who take the time to reply with useful information!
Thanks again, Karen

something must be changing for the pre 2008 applications because they are going to spend $100,000 pulling every file and coding them for NOC. That would suggest those with skills that are short supply may get processed more quickly.

To be honest... we really don´t know. All I can suggest is get yourself a job offer or look at PNP and attempt to get out of the regular skilled worker pool altogether.

Thanks again for the quick reply, especially on a weekend!
If I do manage to secure a job, will this definately speed up my FSW visa application? I know you may not know the answer to this question, but any help/advice is greatly appreciated! I think I may have a problem as my skills are either IT Support or Photography, neither of which I assume are in short supply... Cheers, Karen

Sharon, I have one more question for you if you don´t mind... I believe from reading this forum that you live out west. Currently I am planning to settle in Ontario, but obviously I will go where the work is. I have been west before, and loved it, I have chosen Ontario so far because I lived there whilst at college, and have the support of close friends...
My question is, is there a requirement in your area for either IT support or photographers? Like I said in an earlier post, I feel that these skills are probably not in high demand...
Thanks in advnce for your thoughts on this, Karen

while I am not an employment analyst, I would suggest that the further west you go, the better the opportunities. As for photographers - Vancouver is hosting the 2010 winter Olympics. Photos anyone????

Ontario is facing some economic pressure and there is a high influx of new Canadians to the area that add pressure to those first Canadian job positions.

That said, support from family and friends is very important to the settlement process.

I submitted my application in early Jan. and haven´t received the AOR yet. People used to received them in the month or so. It seems the application before 27 Feb. are also put on hold. Wondering......

What are the skills that Canada needs? My husband and I are Industrial Engineers.

This is very confusing.
