HI GANG!

Last week I went to Indiana to visit an old friend and on the way back I spend a couple days in Toronto.

Being in western Canada for many years, I found that Toronto is a beautiful city and very clean.

However, I think is over populated and there main source of income is going down hill. There are a lot of plants that are closing and in terms of demand for professionals well.... there are too many choices and that is causing under paid professionals in most cases.

Not enough jobs and the demand is too high. On top of that, new immigrants have to compete with local Torontonians for jobs when a born and raise Canadian has been there his/her entire life. Knows the city better and there Canadian experience will be an asset during the interview process is that simple.

Of course this all depends in your profession, experience and being able to merge with the local culture in three months after landing ;)

Now, social events, weather, culture and diversity I think that can be found throughout Canada, depending what you are looking for.

Depending on your background and expectations Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC might be a good option.

I work part time now in Fort McMurray and the development here is just sick. People call this town the "boom town" and just between us...shhhhhh the boom hasn´t even start it yet.

Housing is expensive hard to find a place, yeah yeah, horror stories and a tough weather.
Well...... Are we talking about a retirement town? or a place to make business? and retire somewhere else in the future?

For new immigrants I think of all the cities in Alberta I think probably Calagary is the worse. Very expensive, very pretty and clean, one of the weirdest weather systems ever. (Sounds like the Toronto of the west to me).

Look up North, it ain´t as bad as people think it is. Four to 10 years might get you a place in Beautiful BC with a very low debt ratio in the future.

Good tip tip to find a good job is DON´T DO A SEARCH IN A JOB BANK FOR A JOB.

Look up a company directory in the area or a dealer of a product that you are familiar with. Then look at the company website and apply directly. It takes time, it is tricky if you are not used to do it.

I have been in business for many years and a resume out of the blue is easier to read than when you have a pile of 20 or more resumes on your desk. After the 3rd one they all look the same.

Cheers

Bill

fabulous advice on all fronts.

yes, Calgary has whacky weather known as Chinooks. 10 degree swings in 1 afternoon. It´s all because of those crazy mountains.

Northern BC has some interesting opportunities too. Kamloops comes to mind.

After a third one they all look the same? Third what Bill?

Should of called when in my town Bill!

We could of went across the road for three.

I also accept some of your comments but it also makes me nervous when certain individuals drop in uninvited looking to help me make millions.

I do agree a CV out of the blue will be read.

Hey Roy,

I thought about giving you a buzz when I was there, but my time was a little bit limited. One of this days I sure will and we can go out a crack a brew!

I mean the third resume. When I am reading one after another, once you read three CV´s they all look the same ;)

Anywhoo...

Cheers

Bill
