Subject: A dilemma - Really confused what to do !!!!!!!!!!! |

I am permanent resident, fully employed in Canada in my profession as a geoscientist. I landed in December 2005. With 18 years work experience on the international scene before moving to Canada, I feel I am underpaid, taking into consideration my income prior to landing in Canada. However, my wife and I managed to buy a house where we reside with our kids. In six months time I am qualified to apply for Canadian citizenship.
Currently, I am in a sort of a dilemma. I am getting a very good job offer in the middle-east. However, I am concerned that this might affect my application for citizenship if I decide to accept the offer. I need some advice from the professionals on the forum. If I leave my family here in Canada combined with the fact that we have property in Canada, will I be able to go ahead with my citizenship application at a latter time?

(in reply to: A dilemma - Really confused what to do !!!!!!!!!!!) If you leave Canada now (before applying for the citizenship) then you´ll have to wait for another cycle of 3/4 years to be eligible. Your property..family back here won´t give you extra credit.
If you leave after applying (i.e, fulfilling the 3 years period out of 4 years) then that´ll be OK. You can go out, stay..work while the application will be on process. You just have to come into canada for the exam & Oath taking.
If your family stays here then there won´t be any relationship with you. There case will be considered separately.
If you care very much for the citizenship then best would be not to leave without applying for it.
