Subject: PR card - need help

I realised today that we are supposed to receive our PR card within 30 days of notice of address.

We are still waiting ...but this is the weird thing. We got a form at landing and the officer told us to fax to the number on the form once we have an address. We faxed the form on April 30, nearly 2 months ago.

Today I called the phone number on the form and it says the number has been disconnected, makes me wonder whether they ever got our fax.

I tried also the number on the CIC website 1 888 242 2100 (well yes after office hours) but the answer machine does not have options about PR card.

I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW. How can we get our PR card ??? It says within 180 days we should not pay for it, I mean they are supposed to send it by mail .... WHAT TO DO ????

Call CIC Call Center Service at 1-888-242‑2100 during normal business hours. That´s the best thing to do. Verify they have your correct mailing address.

Thanks Richard

I suppose that this the best thing to do. I am so busy looking for job that I did not realize that we were supposed to get the PR card within 30 days.

I am stressing out now because we thought of visiting family in the US this summer .... can´t go now!

Relax CBV, a little patience. As with any government agency, not everything is always 100%. If you give them a call tomorrow, I´m sure they can straightened this out for you. CIC Call Centre Services staff in my experience have always been very nice, efficient, and easy to deal with.

CBV,

PR card delay is very common story.

In case you need to go out of Canada by this time (not having PR card in hand) don´t worry much. You still can go out, but have to take an one time entry visa in the PP from the nearest Canadian consulate for 50$. This is not a very straight forward way, but in case of emergency this is the way.

thanks Richard and DC

Not getting the PR card feels like the immigration process is not finished. And today I was surfing on the CIC website when I read that PR card should be received within 30 days so since the phone number on the form we got does not exist anymore wonder if the fax number was still ok

Anyway ... thanks guys ... I should relax that is VERY TRUE!

Just go to the near by public service office and give your address.I hope you have your SIN and health card already.
Also look at www,immigratedoctorcanada.com if you are in job hunt because it is a very good web site for the new immigrants.
