Subject: Sponsering my wife
  Hi Everyone,

Thank you for this great forum.

I have a question and I hope I can find some helpful tips from you guys.
I´m sponsoring my wife right now. Submitted my application in March and her application is being processed in Cairo (Egypt) right now. My wife is in Gaza Strip and as you might know that there is a siege in Gaza at this time and this siege has been for more than a year now. Recently there are some talks that they will open the ports and there is a possibility of removing this siege. However, you can never tell if this will last for long. I´d love for the embassy to speed up my process so I can plan to go down there and bring my wife back with me this summer if they open the ports.
My question is: Is it ok to call them and ask them to prioritize my application because of the situation in Gaza? according to the processing time, my application should be finalized on Oct 5. But again these processing times are estimate and they reflect how long it took to process application last year. Any advice or suggestion is highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ghasan

you can always ask but CIC is not in the habit of moving applications to the top of the pile.

It is a dangerous exercise to pin your application timing on what occured in the past. Oct 5 is by no means a guarantee one way or the other. Each application is different, situations at the embassy vary from week to week. The best you can do is make the request on compassionate grounds and see what happens.

all the best to you.

Thanks Sharon.

I think I will do that. I will e-mail them and ask them kindly to consider the situation.

I will keep you updated.

thanks again for your reply.

without lying... state your concerns as strongly as you can. This is your wife and you are afraid for her safety and you are sick with worry. Can they please assist.

I am sure you get the idea.

PLEASE be careful when one tries to over prove a relationship others view it as a bogus marriage. Most bogus marriages have payment parts and the big pay out is when the applicant gets his/her Visa. Do not create a situation where someone may think that your marriage is bogus.

Egypt probably has several other applicants in the same situation as yours.

Ask yourself this question why move your wife´s application to the front of the line and make another wait. Same stress level, same love, same, same!

I suggest you think positive and pray. The ports will open, the hostilities will die down, etc. just when you really need them to die down.

Thanks Roy.

Thats why I´m hezitate to send them an email. why would my application go to the top and make other waits. I´m sure everyone wants his spouse soon and I´m sure everyone is going through same thing. I guess I will have to wait for her visa. and hopefully she will be ok until then.

Thanks

Hi Roy,

how can a CIC officer proves it is a bogus marriage?!! why would someone pay dowry and money and be financially responsible for someone just to give the other person PR card?!! Plus the person can´t sponsor any body else for 3 yrs. So logically it is the most stupid thing someone would do to sponsor someone just for the money. It is really hard to live alone waiting for your wife to build a family together. Plus, I think it is not for the officer to decide if this marriage is right or wrong. No one can choose who u want to marry and decide if you are allowed to live with her or not. Plus, I think it is somehow discrimination because if my wife is US or European Union citizen, then this is not a concern. Just the thought of her application being refused kills me. Living alone and waiting for your loved one is extremely hard..

Thanks,
Ghasan

15% of family class applications are bogus,so obviously, some people think it is worth doing.
