Subject: Which Skill Type do i belong to?
  Hi,
I have graduated with a four years engineering degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. But I have been working for about 1.7 years in an Software Services (IT) company in India. This comapny is an MNC. I wanted to ask, which Skill Type do I belong to?
I looked into the list of NOC (National Ocupational Clasification), but could not make out which Skiil type do i belong to. Please help me with this.
Thanks in advance.

IT - would be ideal, because there is a good chance for these professionals. But remember! you may not land in your job immediately because of Canadian experiance. Networking also important. look at www.immigratedoctorcanada.com for lots of info on job searching, living in Canada ....

Thanks for the help. However, what i see is:
2147 - Computer Engineers (Except Software Engineers and Designers) - This is not valid for me as am not a Computer Engineer
2133 - Electrical and Electronics Engineers - I have done engineering in Electronics but have been working in the software industry for almost last 2 years. So, should I choose one of the following ?

2173 - Software Engineers and Designers
2174 - Computer Programmers and Interactive Media Developers
2175 - Web Designers and Developers

The problem is that I have an Electronics Engineering degree but I have worked as a software professional.
Any inputs would be welcomed.

Check the Main Duties. Qualification is secondary.
Find you correct fit in main duties.
You are an IT guy man..... Don´t be so confuused.
2173 also has telecommunications software engineer if that fits your main duties.

I think YP is partially right.Pl.check the Main Duties.Qualification is NOT secondary b´coz your qualification and work expertinces must support each other. During processing and interview while alloting points this factor is considered and most vitasl too. You have to prove your additional qualification/knowledge , if you are deviating from your main designated qualification.
Study the NOC site properly and decide.

To be honest, I would wait. There are new rules coming out with a list of NOC codes that are in demand. Perhaps there will be an opportunity to find an NOC match that will also get you into Canada a little quicker!

it may be a few months before the rules are set but I think it is worth the wait.
