Hi Angel... I am assuming that you applied as a SW and that you are the principal applicant...

If this is the case you are the only person required to take the IELTS... as CIC will only award YOU (principal applicant) points for language profeciency on the application...

If you submitted a simplified application... CIC will not need the IELTS now... they will tell you when to send that as well as all supporting documents... on the CIC website, they say they will ask you for the documents 4 months or so before they start processing your application and that if you send anything to them before that, they will send it back to you...

They also mention on the website, that the IELTS results will have a 1 year validity... so be aware of that when you take the test...

I would think that having a consultant will help you answer all the questions you may have... but it is a good idea to read and find out on your own about all the different things there are to know about your immigration process... visit the CIC website and read as much as possible... www.cic.gc.ca

Good luck ... I hope this helps...

Thanks Anonymous! I stand corrected when I say our immig consultant, actually we don´t have so i should say immig consultant that I know...

We applied our skilled worker application by ourselves, and not through an immig consultant, but we got hired an employment agency to hopefully help us find a job offer while waiting for our papers to be processed...

Yes I applied as SW and I am the principal applicant under the simplified application....

Our waiting time is 20~24 months and now it has been 10months past, so I assume that in the next 10months we will be able to receive a notice from immig so I want to be prepared...When do you think is the best time to take the IELTS, wait till immig request us to take or when we receive the request for documents?

I hope you didn´t lose too much money... I am sorry for not writing my name on the first post... oops!

Angel, what you can do is prepare for the IELTS by studying a practicing for when you need to take the test... but as far as I know... you should wait for CIC to ask you to take the test when you submit a simplified application... so just study and get ready to take it in case the ask you to do so... but do not take it in advance...

Good Luck

Hi Lily,
No, it´s not really that much but still money is money...oh well need to forget about it...

Yup I guess the best is to be prepared in case they request for it but will not take the test in advance...

Thanks alot, really appreciate your inputs!
