Hi Goody... as far as I know it will not be easy for you to start teaching right away... you must get Canadian Teaching certification and that can take some time...

Good Luck!

Hello Goody,
I have gone through this route myself. It is not easy, but in Canada everything is possible, if you try and give it some time. The best thing for you to do is to read carefully information in the website of the Ontarion College of Teachers www.oct.ca
Bear in mind that each province has set up its own rules and regulations, but they are similar. I assume that your English is very good, and this is very important to obtain the teaching licence. If you refer to the website aforementioned, you will find all the necessary steps you need to follow. I am not sure about other provinces, but Ontarion needs teachers in science and math. You may be asked to complete one or more courses to convert your diploma into an acceptable one in Canada.
Hope it helps.
Miri

Thanks a lot.
I cant think of another job as i like and love my teaching carrier. That is what really force me to stay where i am.
But your reply help me to take a decision.
If I have to take some courses their then i will not be able to start the job fro sometime. Will it be so expensive to take those and about how much i should keep for those courses other than the normal expenses.

good friend of mine sponsored a spouse from Switzerland. He is a music and french teacher. Got a job in BC without a certificate after they realized nobody was available to take the position (had to post it 3 times). They are employing him but giving him 1 year to pick up some specific courses to satisfy the College.

Also, teachers can work in private schools without a license. Pay is often less but it gets your foot in the door and allows you to pick up the classes you need.
