Subject: PR, then Canadian Citizen/ Spousal Sponsorship

My friend just got her PR card. She didnt declare her husband before receiving her PR card, (foolishness inspite of all the warnings i hit her). Clearly known that shes misrepresented herself. And she cant sponsor her spouse anymore.

My question is: What if the CIC wont go after her PR and she plans to obtain Canadian Citizenship,

Is it possible to sponsor her spouse as a Canadian Citizen?

Thanks for prompt replies here.

Are you meaning to say that she wuld wait almost 4 years (3+1) to sponsor her husband?

I´m afraid that the result will be the same.

Lets see if we get more accurate opinion.

I am not sure. waiting that long for me is fatal, esp mentally. its like id rather move somewhere else just to be with my spouse, and forget this land flowing with milk and honey, if the result would end the same "ineligible" to sponsor spouse after 4 yrs and being granted officially as beaver.

If theres a line for Dumbos, i guess shes close to number one. Hope i bought buy her some senses...i did my part. she spilled it, sure shes going to cry over the milk.

thanks DC. yes, i´ll wait for more opinion.

not sure what is going on here. We have styx talking 1st and 3rd person in the same post.

Second opinion, she risks losing her PR too if she pushes it too far. Lying to CIC is not a smart thing to do.

alternate opinion - hire a good lawyer and plead stupidity, humane and compassionate grounds. Kaching, kaching.

It is my friends case. yes i am inquiring for her.

what i was trying to say is, i wont let that happen to my spouse waiting, while i was aware of it. i wont be as stupid as my friend.

its really stupid, to walk miles of distance, if there was a chance to drive, take a bus or fly by plane.

anyways, big thanks guys.

what makes you think citizenship will change the rules? it doesn´t change 1 thing.

As they say, you do one mistake by stupidity then you do another knowingly to cover the first! She needs to marry her husband pronto and start sponsorship soon after. That can reduce the wait substantially. She can brag decades later that she loved her dimwit hubbie so much she had to marry him twice just to show him how much she loved him. The first marriage will have to stay on the back burner for decades... I hope she doesn´t have kids. or else how could she forget to include her husband? I would be leery to marry a woman like that, unless I know at all times where she is at. Or else she might forget that she is married and have a quickie on the spur of moment with a total stranger.
