Secret meetings with Provincial Ministries of Immigration are fine but which NGO has the ear of the Minister?

Once we have crossed the bridge lets go back and cross it again!

Making changes as to what the Minister said is very important, then working out the details and clarifying if the changes are necessary after the fact is so illogical.

"Liberal Immigration critic Maurizio Bevilacqua said the process is flawed because Ms. Finley should have held these consultations before introducing new legislation."

"We already wasted six months because all the applications from the end of February to September are now frozen, so rather than speeding up the process, the minister is causing more delays. It´s absurd when you think about it."

.... I agree with this critic...

One good thing (selfish thing for someone like me) is that immigration officers are focusing all their time and energy on old applications for the next 6 months AT LEAST!

They may be working but not in Port-au-Prince. No one that I know has hear from them yet, some of them with more than 1.5 years since application.

nothing would be happening to those applications from February for months yet so nothing is lost, time wise. Arranged employment is still popping to the top of the list.

Had Finley gone out for consultation before the bill was passed everyone would have screamed that she was presumptive about the outcome of the legislation vote. Can´t win.

Yes, they need to get off their duff and get it done. I am still trying to figure out how they are going to accomodate regional differences in skill demands. Expand the PNP even further?

this is always slow season for SW applications. Student visas, tourist visas, and staff holidays always make the summer a drought for PR applicants.

The thing I find most annoying is how many reporters have no idea how the system works but write articles as if they are experts. 99% of the population have no clue how CIC works but everyone has an opinion.

With the upcoming new rules on Federal Skilled Application, how do you think it will affect the PNP Applications? Do you think there will also be drastic changes in the PNP Application rules or selection process when this new rules of FSW comes out?

nobody really knows. However, if MY brand of logic prevails (LOL) the best way to get the right skills delivered to Alberta, or Ontario or Nova Scotia is to expand in some fashion PR processing that is geographically based. The only tool we have at the moment is the PNP or Quebec selection.

Maybe there would be a way for Quebec Selection to be expanded to the other provinces (as they do not require a job offer) but each province could submit a NOC list that would be part of the selection criteria. There may be some need to enter a settlement agreement.

my wild hypothesizing.

Thanks Sharon, Im really concerned about this because I´m planning to apply for a Slection Certificate for Quebec within the next few months. Im just trying to fix some things...I just hope (and really hope) that their selection criteria would not change even if the new rules on FSW comes out.

Don´t panic about Quebec Selection Process the Conservatives need Quebec BIG TIME!!!

The odds of this legislation coming into effect depends on the Liberals getting rid of their current leader.

The conservatives are now taking the basic political approach lets delay this so we can offend the fewest people. put off making a decision for as long as it takes.

Just curious, why does the selection process in Qubec doesn´t require a job offer as compared to most PNP programs? And what do you mean by "put off making a decision for as long as it takes"?

don´t be tempted to apply until you have a clear understanding of what the new rules might be. if that is 2 months... it is 2 months. if it is 5 - so be it.

that way you can be sure you are playing by the right rules and doing your best to ensure success.
