New to this... just going to spit it out and hope someone has some sort of input. I am Canadian and got married in Serbia. I sent off the paperwork for my husband to come here in June. I was told it would take approximately 6 months for all the paperwork to go through before he got here. But that´s just what the government tells you. Anyone have any idea how long it really takes or what to expect? I feel so lost.

if it is an outland application the time line could be quite close... as long as he does not have some sort of mystery illness or sordid criminal past.
as you know, it is a 2 phase process. They will approve you as sponsor and then they approve hubby. 6 -8 weeks for phase 1 - might be slightly longer because of holidays and summer workload.

A few days ago I got notice that I ´met the requirements´ for sponsorship and then a few days after that we got an email that the paperwork had reached Vienna. I just have no idea what´s going to happen next or when. Driving me insane.

that means you are on to phase 2. Congratulations. You have passed. now they are checking out hubby. Things are moving along nicely.
Try to be patient and optimistic :) It will happen sooner than you think.

Hooraw. Things on his side should be good, no criminal record, went to the doctors and was cleared. Just kind of worried about the ´proof´ part of it that they want to see. When I submitted the paperwork, we really didn´t have much of anything. We met on a website where all of our messages were stored until we deleted our profiles, then we talked on msn but never did I think ´hej maybe I should keep these conversations just incase we get married!´ haha. I ended up turning in a few phone bills and tons of pictures. Worrried.
