A new pact reached by the premiers in Canada will grant greater freedom to Canadian workers and allow them to take their skills to different provinces.
Under the agreement, the credentials of workers in virtually all fields should be recognized across the country, in each province and territory by April 1, 2009.

The new arrangement could make it easier for workers to move where there are jobs or better job opportunities. The pact will also give far more flexibility to those who have trained in other countries, since they will have to attain credentials in only one province, after they arrive in Canada.

That means nurses, welders, teachers and any other professionals who get accredited by a regulator in one province will have their professional qualifications automatically accepted in another.

The existing internal trade agreement between provinces and territories will be amended by Jan. 1, 2009
Interprovincial migration will allow many of the provinces to eliminate critical labout shortages. The accord will also help individuals to boost their economic prospects, gives employers much wider access to labour markets, and boosts Canada´s economy.

Just a wild thought, I´m worried that this would result to stiffer competition and lesser job opportunity for new comers..... :(

To All

I get amazed when people see a negative from what others see as a positive change. If your a PR the opportunities would affect you equally.

Most trades already can go from province to province by getting a Red or Gold Seal in their profession just by writing a test.

I don´t know of one regulatory body that has a member move to another province that would reject ones membership just because he/she came from ____ Province.

This in my opinion is virtually a nothing change other then an attempt at eliminating red tape.
