Ok..perhaps there is already a post similar, but as I´ve read, every experience seems to be unique to some degree.
Here´s my situation. I am a U.S. born citizen who met and fell for a Canadian. We have been together a year and have both travelled three times (6 total) to visit each other. We feel we are meant to be but do not want to rush marriage and certainly not just to obtain citizenship.
I have taught French at the high school level for 7 years. We have both read everything on CIC but it´s all still so confusing. I applied to have my credentials reviewed by Manitoba´s teacher cert. board and was issued a letter of eligibility to use to apply for employment. I need 21 more "Education credits" and 3 more in German for a second certifiable area. I´ve applied to every publc school system in Winnipeg, and even to spec. postings without luck.
Currently, I´m looking to apply as a skilled worker, but I found a snag: I have neither arranged employment nor 10,168 $ that is unencombered by debts or loans (I have student loans, car loan, and some small credit debt). It all seems like a catch 22 to me.
I just wanna know how I can be there the quickest and how I should apply for PR status in my situation. Can I be there and then apply? I looked into a temp. work visa and understood it as I still needed arranged employment, etc. I keep wondering how everyone else does this legally, following the rules of all the hoops you have to jump through.
Thanks for any and all advice.
