Subject: Whole family's passports to be sent at one time?
I have following questins, hope some experts in this forum advise on this:
1. When I receive the passports request for issuing PR visas, do I need to send all the family members passports at one time?
2. What if one of the family member is already in Canada on a student permit?
3. Can the passports be sent separately from different countries at different times?
4. Does the family member who is already in Canada on student visa, needs to leave Canada and re-enter on PR visa?
5. If so, does the prime applicant have to accompany the family members, or family members can land in Canada any time once the prime applicant has landed once and left within a week time for example?
Thanks in advance.

(in reply to: Whole family's passports to be sent at one time?)
1. yes
2. they still need to submit passport
3. it would be advisable that they all go in together to avoid confusion or errors
4. yes - can be done by simply going to the closest US border.
5. primary applicant must land first. remaining family members can land later but must be within the time frame indicated on the passport. Usually 1 year from the date of medicals.

3. I don´t think it´s possible because it cleary mentioned on PPR request that ALL passport should be send together. Beside that you have to send the chart which is included with PPR request and there you have to mention your address. How do you gonna put two different addressess??

Thanks, Sharon for your reply.

For your answer on Point-5: I need further information:

Can the other family members land alone, while the primary applicant has already left Canada within a week of his landing?

Thanks Tariq for your reply and I have two more requests to you.

Can you please email me the chart that comes with the PPR, a scanned copy of it, or atleast let me know what all other information is required to put in there.

Why leaving immidiately? (in reply to: Whole family's passports to be sent at one time?)
why are you intending to leave immediately after landing?

perhaps it would be better for your family to wait to land until you can remain in Canada with them to support them and fulfill your duties as a skilled worker applicant.

other option is for the family to all land and return home with you until you are ready to establish yourself in Canada.

Thanks, Sharon for your reply. (in reply to: Whole family's passports to be sent at one time?)
Thanks, Sharon for your reply.

I need to return within a week as I have some other obligations at present. At the same time, my son Insha-Allah (By the will of God) will start studying at University of Toroto, in first week of Sept. 2008.

So, if we get passport request after he leaves for Canada, then I think, the family (except the one who will be already studying at Canada) would travel, apply for PR and return back. Then as you suggested, my son can go to the nearest border USA and return over a weekend through the PR VISA.

Does it all seem practical to you? Kindly advise, thanks once again and appreciate your response.

I think I akready told yout regarding this.

"Can the other family members land alone, while the primary applicant has already left Canada within a week of his landing?"

- YES. No restriction on when you can leave. You can leave the next day if you wish and your family members can land later. HOWEVER, then you are leaving Canada without the PR card (takes at least 30 days for the new comers). So, when you´ll come next time you have to take a one time entry visa from your Canadian consulate to get in. Your family may mail the card to you, though usually couriers do not carry such personal ID cards.
