Subject: Visit Visa from Poland - Questions
  Hello,

I have a question on behalf of my cousin. He recently came to visit me here in Canada from Poland. As he is a Polish national, he was given a visa at the airport for 3 months. I have a few questions:

1) How easy is it for him to extend the visa past 3 months?
2) If he overstays his visa, what is he risking? Can he just leave Canada at any time he wants, or is he going to get in trouble on his way out?
3) How easy is it for him to get a work permit under the recently signed Youth Mobility agreement (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/releases/2008/2008-07-14.asp)? He´s 24, so within the age bracket of the program.

Thank you for your help!

1. No one is given a visa at the airport they are either admitted or refused as a visitor.

2. Polish citizens do not require a Canadian Visitor Visas.

3. If there is just a stamp ion the passport with no date written under the stamp your cousin is legally here for six months.

4. Overstaying ones status in Canada puts your cousin at risk of being excluded from Canada for one year, having a permanent black mark on his/her file etc. There are no exit requirements so little or no trouble on the way out of Canada. If not stamped back into Poland when he returns it will difficult for CIC to know he overstayed.

5. Your cousin has to apply for this program in Poland not from within Canada, regulation 11.

6. YOU HAVE ALREADY DECIDED TO BREAK THE LAW SO BE PREPARED TO FACE THE CONSEQUENES!
