Subject: help with my PR application
I have got my selection certificate (CSQ) from Quebec (as skilled worker). now I have to apply for the visa through Buffalo, but it´s not clear to me how to get the police certificate!!! do I get before sending the application or i have to wait they issue the visa and it will be issued when landing . I´m really confused about the entire process and any help would be appreciated.

thanks

The police certificate is a requirement to get the Visa. However, you can send your application first and send your police certificate as soon you get it.

To get the police certificate in the US, see the following site:

http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cjisd/fprequest.htm

Good luck!

You must obtain a police certificate from each country or territory where you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.

The certificate must have been issued no more than three months before you submit your application.

If the original certificate is neither in English nor in French, submit both the certificate and the original copy of a translation prepared by an accredited translator with your application.

In Canada, you don´t need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent residence. The Canadian visa office will notify applicants if RCMP fingerprint checks are required.

Good luck

How long did it take you to get your CSQ? Did you undergo an interview? What are the questions during the interview for CSQ?

anonymous, to answer your question.. I applied for the CSQ one year before my graduation (June 2007), I was schedueled for interview one month after i submitted my proof of graduation (31 july 2008). the interview is basically to verify your originals with the copies you have submitted and the officer will also ask you some diffrent questions about your background, education etc. in FRENCH.
the decision will be made after the interview and you will be granted the CSQ if the outcome is positive.

thnaks to Edu for answering my questions :-)

I read from this forum that you don´t need a police certificate from Canada if CHC does not request for it.

For Canada, they do name check and if something fishy turns up only then fingerprint checks are required.
