Subject: Divorce after Landing
Both my wife and I are Egyptian.

1- We were married since 1987.
2- We landed since 2 years, my wife is the main applicant.
3- We have been separated since 15 months.
4- I want to proceed with divorce.
5- If I divorce here, does that change my status as a permanent resident?
6- If I travel for a short vacation outside Canada, do you think i will have any problems coming back?

You are free to do whatever you want since you are permanent resident. You won´t have any problem coming back if you have your permanent resident card.

Good luck

Edu is correct but I have a question for you that is for my own personal curiousity

did you stall separating from your wife until you arrived in Canada?

Your wife has a big favor to you that brought you to Canada and pulled you out of the misery of your country. After being in Canada and securing your permanent residence, why do you want to divorce her? Would didn´t you do that before landing? You are really a mean and greedy person. You deserve to stay in your miserable country ///

Hi Anonymous (in reply to: Divorce after Landing)
First of all, my country is not miserable. we have civilization of more than 5000 years, Not 400 years.
You do not understand any thing about human relationships. Divorce can be better than a bad marriage. the last thing. if you are brave enough and you really mean what you say, why you did not write your name and email.I did not know that such shallow persons exist in the world.

that was not my question. my question was - were you seriously contemplating divorce in Egypt and did you delay that decision until after you got your PR.

not that anyone can do anything about it (your PR is safe) - just wondering as it generally speaks to another conversation in a different thread.

We were planning for divorce for many years before we came to Canada. We paid to a Candaian Lawyer to process our papers. It is cheaper as a family than two individuals. I hope that will satisfy your curosity Sahron!

would you be willing to say that one of you would not have qualified as individual skilled workers and this was the only way for both of you to get status?

Why we pay twice? (in reply to: Divorce after Landing)
We are both skilled workers. We have Master degrees in Medicine. If I will come alone i could easily score the required points, if you are interested in my personal life, give me your email!
