Subject: Canadian PR
  Hello,

I am an international student in canada. My dad applied for Skilled Worker Class immigration from Singapore (That is where I am from). My question is: Does my dad need to make a landing in canada in order for me to get my PR? Or can I get my PR without having to trouble him to come all the way? (My Dad is the principle applicant)

are you part of your fathers application? If yes, then Dad must land.

so let me get this straight - you father has no intention of living in Canada and applied so his son could get status?

No it is not a problem, but your dad being the principal applicant will have to land first. You can land with him or after he has landed. Once you become a PR, you are on your own.

Figure it out for yourself. You´ve already ripped off the system once, if you dad applied soley so that you could have PR and has no intention of ever living here. What a shame, since there are thousands of people who are dying to live here.

sharon, sorry to say, you are soooooooooooo negitive and you assume things so negitively that i cant explain. This poor guy is asking if his father needs to land or he can simply get his PR because he is already in canada so through approval of his dad´s application he assumed that he has got his PR as well because his father has got the approval and he would probably be on the application. May be his father wants to take his time in landing that most people do as the the visa is valid for 1 yaer or expiry of the passport whichever comes early.....you always think that people want to cheat the system...come on change your attitude.

Mike, read it again. My question was exactly the right question and the reply says it all. Daddy has no intention of living in Canada and can´t be bothered to even land. Kid is trying to figure out how to come as a dependent of someone that is not completing the process.

As we all know, it does not work that way and is this applicant cheating the system... no...but it is sure infuriating to those who are waiting behind them in line.
