| Subject: passport request process |

hi,,,
i am in pakistan. applied as skilled worker. got my passport request letter on December 30, 2004. mailed my passport on December 31, 2004 via FedEx to embassy in Islamabad.
Questions:
1. How long does it take for the embassy to put the visa on the passport. I haven´t heard from them yet.
2. Is it safe to send it via courier services. To me it just seem sending a precious document such as passport via courier service is not that smart. Specially when the courier service writes on the slip that they don´t take any responsibility if any thing is lost.

Wasn´t it indicated in your passport request letter how many days will your passport is expected to be back? I´m quiet sure it is mentioned there. Also, CIC surely included some instructions on how you are going to send your passports to them. And what do you mean that sending docs thru couriers isn´t safe? Couriers have their reputations at risk when rendering services. Do you think they will survive in the business if they are not giving the best service?

no there was no mention of the days it will take for them to return the passport. Your answer to courier services issue does satisfies me. You are right!

you are in pakistan ,you should go to yourself to collect your visa.
I also got my passport request from hong kong . i am also in pakistan now planing to go hong kong but first i will have to collect my visa for hong kong .

Hi,
I recieved my passport request from Buffalo, in the letter they said it will take about 14-15 business days for them to get my passport back to me, once they recieve it (this doesn´t include the time it spends in the mail when they send it back).
So I can only assume that the time it takes for Islamabad to get passports back is roughly the same amount of time. Seeing as you sent the passport on the 30th, I assume you should have it back sometime betweeen the 19th-25th (at latest). That´s giving 2 days for it to get there via FedEx and roughly 2 weeks for them to stamp it and another 3-4 days for you to get it back from them once it´s in the mail.
