Subject: Class Action Lawsuit against CIC
Just when I was beginning to forget about my Canadian immigration, out of the blue comes this letter (that was sent to an old address of mine) that Iam included among the class members named in the suit against the minister of CIC (details at www.cic.gc.ca) . I did not pay much attention to it, as I was in the process of finishing up my postdoctoral studies here in the US. But immediately after that letter I get three letters and one of them by priority mail asking me for updated information from my side. ( the CIC seems to love me :) now after all these years- March 2000 was when I got my file no. in India, it has been -in process- ever since) . I have sent the updated info to the CIC in India and I will call up the lawyers mentioned in the lawsuit for more info. Is there anyone else who has had a similar experience? Is it an advantage or should I opt out ?

do NOT opt out. there is no promises or guarantees if you should not take advantage of this. what this will mean is that you will be judged under the old rules or new rules- which ever is to your advantage. give them the info that they request and hang on tight.

Well... (in reply to: Class Action Lawsuit against CIC)
Do you know??? They misplaced my application which is caused a huge delay . I know they find applications out of the blue if you ´cause scandal´ . I don´t want to say what I did but believe me!!! they called me all apologetic about it.
Maybe Mrs. Sgro doesn´t has had enough now that everbody knows she granted PR to a lap dancer....

there is more to the lap dancer story than the media tells you. she was married to a Canadian and has 2 children. her visitor visa expired. Ms. Sgro gave her a work permit so she could remain in Canada while her sponsorship application completed. Just happens she was a dancer. Now... does that change how you feel about the situation?
