Subject: Western Union #2
Mike, the original question was about sending money by Western Union to the Canadian Embassy.

All I said was... make sure it is a money order/draft NOT a wire transfer/electronic transfer... whatever the heck you want to call it because there is nobody at the consulate that is going to run down to the Western Union office to pick up the cash.

Simple. I don´t need a lecture on how Western Union works. As I have already said, I know first hand how it works and what is required. I also know first hand how bank wire transfers work and what is required.

As you also know, we get some very strange questions here and while it all may seem logical and obvious to you, one can never assume it is logical or obvious to the person asking the question. My intent was simply to clarify the various services at WU and which one would be acceptable to CIC.

OK WESTERN UNION....not a problem, i was also trying to clarify the difference between wire transfer and other ways of money transfers because when i said bank account is required for wire trasnsfer, you said NO...the bank account is not required for wire transfer, then i only tried to clarify and provide more information about this and thats it. I use WU for money transfer as well that is why i know it is not a wire transfer, it is a network transfer, so i only passed this information to you. so no hard feelings...we are here to educate each other basically, all these questions , answers and all these things help us learn different stuff and we learn from each other.

wire transfer, network transfer - now we are splitting hairs. In your mind there may be a distinction but really... if yous stopped 100 people on the street and asked them to tell you the difference do you think more than 5 would know?

Again, all I wanted to prevent was someone walking into a WU office and saying I want to send CIC some money and thinking it did not have to be a PAPER transaction and the little form you fill in that says SEND MONEY does not constitute a paper transaction.

end of discussion.

to pay your immigration application fee go to the bank and get a moeny order or bank draft. NO WU, No money Transfer, only bank draft or money order from the bank because transactions with the bank is more secure than transaction with Western Union for money orders.

Yes, including Western Union because it is accepted but to be on the safe side, please do it through the bank not western union, you know why? If you lose your money order, the bank has more resources to recover the amount and cancel the money order, while with WU the process is so complicated and hectic that you would probably forget about the money. You know the reason why, because WU money orders are even issued by some gas stations, some samll agents in a tiny street, even a grocery store has a machine to issue money orders. You know guys what i meant. So go for the bank not WU.
