Subject: How can an American best use NAFTA? |

Hi, I have a question of how an American can go about using the NAFTA agreement to obtain employment in Canada:
If I have a job offer for a software developer role (but also systems administration, database administrator as minor parts of the job) for a Canadian company what steps do I need to do in order to start working for the company?
Do I need a labour market opinion? Do I just show up at the border with the job offer in hand?
If the role is a contract position that is six months in duration with a possibility of fulltime employment thereafter what, if anything, changes in the course of action?
Thanks!

(in reply to: How can an American best use NAFTA?) I could tell you about the opposite; for a Canadian to use NAFTA to get work authorization in the US.
Your case kind a rare, I doubt anyone here can help. You can look for official NAFTA requirements for the Canadian side.
I can tell you that in the US side, Canadians do not need any labor market survey or certification. Just a job offer letter in a specified format, related degree..in some cases certifications are enough.
