Helloo Friends,
My name is Shan, I m living in Karachi, Married and have one daughter who is 01 year old. I m 30 years old, working and earning around 50,000 PKR (Approx $750 US Dollars) per month. I have done my MBA (marketing) and my wife is a bachelor and working too and earning Approx 25000 PKS (Approx $375 US Dollars) per month so that makes a total of US $ 1125 per month or 75000 PKR.
I m planing to move to canada due to the current situation of the country and plus i think i can make some gud money there as compare to pakistan. I have working exposure of Textile and Bank.
So its a request to all you Karachi Ppl and other Pakistani´s as well to advise me wat to do as u have been living there and can tell in black and white. Your advises will be really helpfull in making my decision.

First of all, do not address the message to any community in particular as nobody on this forum where are they from and who they are.....so you will not get an answer because people would not like to tell that they are from Pakistan or from Karachi.
First of all let me clarify that i am not from Karachi but i can still talk to you, i believe.
75000 Rupees in Pakistan is a good amount of money and probably you are the part of middle class there. I know Pakistan is going through a difficult time ( i follow the news)but still you are making a very good amount of money. You want to move to Canada, you are more than welcome to do that but please keep in mind that job market in Canada is not very encouraging. Most of the people do not get job in their own fields so they all kind of jobs. If you have no problem with that, then there wont be any problem for you to survive in this country. Basically, mos of the immigrants are only surviving here. Some of them put theirselves in trouble and save a bit of money as well by working extra jobs, and living in areas where rents are low and utilities are included. So yeah, you can save a bit of money by following the same routine. IF you are lucky enough to get a job in your own field then life would be very easy for you.....you will enjoy the summer and winter both because the weather of your heart and mind will be pleasent. Otherwsie, life is a bit difficult here. Pakistan has no electricity and there is food shortages these days beside suicide bombers, Canada does not haev any of these but Canada has its own problem which you will realize when you are here.
Anyways, good luck with your intentions, hope you will get what you desire.

Being content in your situation is the major factor for happiness in life, wherever you live.
I believe you make a good money in Pak. Although salaries are much higher in North America, virtually it is the same because of the high life expenses and taxes. You might make more savings in Pak than you are in Canada.
It soounds you are well-settled in Pak. If you move to Canada, you will struggle a lot (especially in the beginning) and subject you (and your family) to a lot of stress.
All Canada seems a nice place for Pakistani to escape the misery of their country, life in Canada still have many problems but they are subtle and are relaized only when you come here (at that time, it will be too late).
I am not discouarging you as many people come to Canada and become more successful. However, it is your decision and you have to weigh everything carefully.
I am not in a good position as yours. Therefore, Canada for me is a better option. I pray that my dreams will not shattered.

Thankyou both for replying ! I would love to know more in detail. Mike can you tell me more in detail what problems are u refering in your post. And ANONYMOUS no doubt i m earning 75000 per month but the problem is i m hand to mouth and not saving any thing. I wish to save for my childerens future. Can u temme what kind of job will i get and how shuld i proceed?

I did mba in mkt from pk and ma in marketing from uk,i m very much settle in uk,but still i m going to canada .Why just for future prospect .Because in UK jobs are seequzing ,Canada is a big country ,more job prospect for long term.No doubt lot of challenge for new immig ,sometime our education employer dont accept . you keep in mind you have to do something in education there as well to validate your education .

Well, Canada does not have any law and order problem nor any other problem that you are encountering in Pakistan such as food shortages, power outage etc. So from this point of view there is no problem in Canada. As a new immigrant you will face problems in the area of securing employment because you have no Canadian experience. Secondly, if you belong to service industry with general education such as MBA etc, you will get a lot of trouble in getting a job in your field. Sometimes it gets difficult to secure even a survival job which offers 8-9 dollars an hour. Now if you are getting 8-9 dollars an hours, you will hardly survive as the rent of one bedroom apartmenet starts from 700 - 800 a month and 2 bedroom from 975 and above depends upon the area you want to live in.
I am not discouraging you at all, i am just showing you the real picture so that you are mentally prepare for these things when you will come here. Secondly if you strat the process now, it would take you 4-5 years in getting your PR and who knows what would be the economic condition of the country by then. So hope for the best!
