Subject: NOC list priorities?
Does anybody know if there are occupations in the NOC list (National Occupation) that CIC gives more priorities over the others? For example, if there are many more IT applicants than those with Finance skills, etc.

None. Under the new system, in place for several years now, no qualifying occupation is more favored than any other. If the occupation is on the NOC list as either O, A, or B, it counts toward the one year minimum work experience requirement, and gets you points for work experience under the point system. If it´s not on the list, it doesn´t count toward either. It either counts or it doesn´t. Within the list of occupations that count, there´s no sliding scale of preferred occupations that count more than others.

hope that helps.

Yes, but that is for work permits, not permanent residency. For permanent residency it does not matter -- under the federal program at least. Certain occupations are eligible for entry under the provincial programs, but the why the question was worded, I assumed we were talking about the federal program. Perhaps I made a wrong assumption.
