Subject: FSW procedure for the new spouse
  Hello to everybody,

I would like to ask you this question: my fiance´ is applying for Canada as FSW, she probably is the most qualified between the two so it´s ok.

If we´ll get married during the process of permanent resident visa evalution, and she´ll update her situation, how will work for me? I´ll have a simplified process, or it will be just another FSW application like I would be single?

And also, is better to follow this procedure or it would be better that she, once she´ll receive the visa, starts the process of sponsorship?

Many thanks in advance.
L.

the best way is to include one of you as the spouse on a FSW application. that way there is no delay in you moving at the same time and no questions about whether your relationship is legit etc. But, you need to be married or 1 year common law.

if niether of you have applied yet - wait. new rules are due out in a few months that may change which of you becomes the primary applicant. Also in the mean time, start looking for a Canadian job opportunity.

Hi Sharon, thanks for the answer.

Indeed, my fiance already applied for FSW last year.

My question is: when and if we will be married, and I will be included as spouse into her FSW application, the process for me is more simple, or I will have to provide the same documentation as she is doing, check if my experience is among NOC categories, do the IELTS test, etc etc.?

Many thanks in advance.

if you are included as a spouse on a skilled worker application you have no requirements to prove NOC codes or IELTS. You basically get to come along for a free ride. As long as your relationship is legitimate - all is well.

as soon as you are married - your partner needs to inform CIC about their change in status to include you.

good luck to you.

ps... if you can find yourself a Canadian employer- all the better
